It peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200, and has been certified as selling 17x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2003. The album is the second best-selling debut album of all-time in the United States, after Guns N' Roses's Appetite for Destruction. Worldwide, Boston has sold nearly 20 million copies.
